Thailand
I was just getting out of my second devorice, closing esscrow for the second time in 3 months. We had just bought our first house 3 months after getting married and now I was selling it to fiinalize our devorice. My awesome daughter just a bout to head off for colledge. I decide theres no beter time then now to explore this world so bought my 1 way ticket to Thailand for $250 and gave my company 3 months notice. I downsized my life to fit into a 38L ospray backpack.
Thailand is one of the best countries for a solo traveler to start theresa courtney. As massive and busy as Bangkock is, english is spoken most everywhere and once you brave the world thew a chatty tuck tuck driver as you whip down side streets, sidewalks and on comming traffic youll know youve arived at your destination by the grace of God.
My first hostel experiance of many was just around the córner from the forever party of Khao San Road, with ita blasting bonbardment of combatting music from one bar sceen to the next. I had two things to conqure while I was there, the abandond mall and goast towers.
The abandond mall has been on my buckley list for a while. During the last few months of my marketing career I logged many hours of research googling abandone and adventurious structures to explore along my way, things I child do for the most I had. I left Caligornia with about $10k in my pocket, every dime I had. I had a few clients I was gong to maintain remotly to subsadize my dewindling retirement, at 38 I was determand to escape the rat race and this was my start. With just a laptop and a phone I was able to maintain a continal presence while usualy sitting on a beach somewhere drinking a beer with exótic company usualy in a tinny bikini, the rat race isnt for everyone.
Hostels are the easiest way for solo travelers to conect with other aventures. After my first day i had recruted two beautiful conspiriters willing to explore the unseen Bangkok with me and look for the abandond mall and ghost towers.
My 2 new adventurers ome a tall, slinder blond from the UK somewhere and the other hottie from singapore. A high energy aventurer with a perfict ass. Between the both of them i was all smiles as we headed no our way in search of the hidden gems.
The story of the abandone mall Thailand goes like this. For some reason or other the mall was closed permenantly. Over the years of neglect the roof colaped but nothing changed for the vendors that line the streets that suround the massive structure.over Time and due to contenual rain the entre basement flooded. As the newly developed lake grew deeper and deeper swarms of mosquitos also developed. They we're so overwhelming to the local vendors that someone introduced koy and other local fish inti the newly developed eco system to controle the infestación. Over the years the fish múltipled to 1000's upon 1000's un a building basement the size of a stadum.

The mall is hidden in plan sight 2 streets down from Khao San road. Vendors suround the mall as if it's not there. We went along the side of the mall to a carport that we ducked into out of site from wondering eyes. Along the left of the carport Is a walkway we fallowed around to where it dead ends. Web round a tall tree growing at the end. About 10' high there Is a 3' x 3' hole in the wall. I went threw first then pulled my two eager new friends threw. We came threw into an elivator Shaft about 2 stories high. Once we crossed the elivator doorway into the stairway we enteres into an apocalíptic sceen. A thin layer of mud and silt covered everything. Moss and grass covering most of the malls floor space. Excolators span open spaces from one story to the next. Covered with debree and grass we cautiously climbed from ome floor to the next. At either end of the vacant mall Is a 30' x 30' wide hole that you can ser either the clear blue sky if you look up or down into the massive lake that is alive with life. Slipping and sliding along hand in hand we dragged eachother from one creepy shop space to the next. At one end we were able to go down flights of stairs into the basement. There Is a rickity rotting walk way someone had previously made to walk over the lake filled with fish.
It was a simple journey that lasted no more than an hour but we were the few that had seen the hiden eco system of this once massive mall.
The abandond mall was am erie adventure of when nature over takes civilización. Ghost towers Sathorn Towers Is an unfinished skyscraper in the Thai capital city Bangkok. After a 15 minute boat ride down the massive river cutting threw Bangkok que disinbark into the heart of Bangkok. About 300' from the Rivero Stands a massive 53 story skyscraper that was never finished. It's complete concrete construcción Is void of Glass and steel. Thais massive bahimoth has been forgoten and turned over to nature. Completely abcent of anything other thank concrete forma. Se sneaked threw the chainlink fence that cuts the building out of society. After a few shorts minutes of flurtacious batting of eyes and flatery the already drunk and clearly under paid secirity guard was gratiously holding the richity ladder as my beautiful friends climed up to the second story we're we started área adventure.
